HINTON SCHOOL OF DANCE Employment Opportunity Starting September 2008

DANCE TEACHER – Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop

Hinton School of Dance is a vibrant multi-disciplinary school that has been in operation since 1998. We offer Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Musical Theatre to all ability levels, with classes for very young children through to adults.

We are currently seeking a dynamic individual to join our instructional team, teaching in the Jazz, Tap and Hip Hop programs. The successful candidate will have extensive experience teaching a broad range of ability levels in these disciplines, as well as in choreography. Related dance teacher training and/or post-secondary educational experience is required. We offer a full time position with competitive wages.

The Town of Hinton, population 10,000, is located 15 minutes from Jasper National Park boundary with spectacular views of the Rocky Mountains. The community offers many recreational, arts and culture opportunities. See www.hinton.ca.

Hinton School of Dance boasts 3 state-of-the-art studios, teacher's lounge, student lounge and homework area, locker and dressing rooms, administrative office and a costuming workshop. We are a non-profit board governed organization, financially sound with a part-time office staff and a very talented and committed volunteer base. We teach 250 to 300 students annually. Our program involves both recreational and performance streams. Over the years, our students have participated and excelled in festivals, ballet exams and a broad range of community events.

Dance Creations Performing Arts Theatre

Dance Creations is seeking the right person to join as a Dance Instructor for the 2008/2009 season beginning September 1, 2008.
You would be instructing: Preschool, Ballet, Modern and Jazz classes from beginner to advanced levels. Teaching hours will be approximately 20-25 hours per week with the opportunity to gain additional hours by offering private lessons. The exact classes and hours will be finalized based on the strengths of the successful candidate.

The ideal candidate for this position will have had 2-3 years experience with experience and/or knowledge in:

R.A.D. Teaching (an asset but not necessary);

Choreography for festivals and competitions
Graduation from a recognized post-secondary teacher training program or equivalent would be an asset.

Full-time ballet teacher at the RWB School

The Royal Winnipeg Ballet School seeks a full-time ballet teacher for the 2008-2009 school year. The RWB School is an internationally recognized institution dedicated to the training of professional dancers and dance teachers. Attracting students from across Canada and around the world, the RWB School enjoys an enrolment of approximately 100 to 120 students in its full-time Professional Division programs. Over 1,000 local students are registered in its Recreational Division that includes the operation of Satellite Programs in rural Manitoba. The School enjoys a full calendar with intensive summer programs also offered annually.

This position will teach within the Professional Division Teacher Training Program and the Recreational Division. Candidates must hold a minimum of an Associate Diploma from the Cecchetti Society ISTD and be eligible to enter students in the major Cecchetti examinations. They will have experience in teaching pedagogy, ballet to students of all ages and pointe work as well as be able to choreograph for recitals, festivals and other School performances.

The successful candidate will be required to provide a clean Criminal Record and Child Abuse Registry check.
