Membership Information
Important:
Please notify the CDTA Sec/Treas (cdtabcbranch@gmail.com) of any changes to address, phone number or email promptly to assist in maintaining a current membership list.
Members advertising of credentials:
A member in good standing may advertise their CDTA credentials to the public by listing the Division they belong to and also the category of membership they hold.
Membership dues
Affiliate membes annual dues are $55.00
All other levels of membership are $80.00
By law 5.6.2. “Membership annual dues should be paid before the end of January of the current year. An additional time of grace for late payments, ending March 31 of the current year, will be allowed. Individuals who have not paid their annual dues by March 31, will receive a notice saying that such fees are overdue, that a penalty will be levied and their names removed from the mailing list until fees are paid Individuals will also be notified at the same time, that they may not exercise any membership privileges after the above date”.
Overdue penalty
Will be levied at $5.00 per month after March 31.
A member in good standing
By law 5.6.4 “A member in good standing shall be a member who has paid the membership fees of the Branch by March 31 of the year for which the fees are due.”
Professional Certificates
Article 16
* 16.1 When a person ceases to be a member of the Branch, he or she shall not display any professional certificate from the Canadian Dance Teachers Association and shall not portray himself or herself as associated with the Canadian Dance Teachers Association in any way.
* 16.2 The Executive shall be entitled to recover any professional certificate issued by the Branch.
Policy regarding Leave of Absence:
A member may apply for a leave of absence under the following conditions:
1. A written request to the Executive outlining the reasons for the leave and subsequent approval for the one year leave by the Executive.
2. Any further annual leave are to re-applies for and approved by the Executive each year of the leave.
3. Leave status means there will by no teaching by the member.
4. The fee for the year will be $40.00.
5. The leave years do not count towards Life Membership (in fact they interrupt the 30 years of continuous service required for Life Member status.
Policy regarding Reinstatement of membership
If a person has not paid dues and wishes to rejoin the Association, they must apply in writing to the Executive to request reinstatement. The following policy will apply.
1. Up to 3 years absent: they may pay up to 3 years back dues plus penalties OR take an examination.
2. If the absence is longer than 3 years they must take an examination.
Policy regarding Life membership
Must have 30 years of continuous service to a Branch. (see bylaws)
