We are pleased to announce the upcoming “Diamond Jubilee” dance convention and competition in honour of the Canadian Dance Teacher’s Association’s 60th Anniversary. All CDTA members are invited to “Dance and Shine in 2009” for the diamond anniversary of our national dance organization.

The Diamond Jubilee will be held at the Delta Meadowvale Resort and Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, July 9-12, 2009, inclusive.

These are just a few of the great artists our CDTA students will have the privilege of working with at the convention.

There will be a National Dance Competition in Ballet, Jazz and Tap with a special boys-only category in ballet. The BC Branch will be hosting a provincial competition April 18-19, 2008 at Simon Fraser University in preparation for the national competition. We will be including an acro component in the provincial competition. Our first place provincial winners in each category, except Acro, will be the BC Representatives at the national competition!

All CDTA teachers are invited to join in the Shim Sham Shimmy, choreographed by Leonard Reed, which will close the formal Gala on Saturday, July 11, 2009. Our goal is to have 60 CDTA teachers, of various ages, “dancing and shining”. A copy of the notes for the Shim Sham Shimmy is available for those members interested in participating.

There will be a Parade of Champions on Sunday, July 12, 2009, at which time the competition and scholarship winners will be presented with their awards.

The Diamond Jubilee promises to be a four-day dance extravaganza! Bring your whole family to join in the celebrations and turn your child’s passion into fun for the whole family! There are pools and the “big blue” waterslide within the Delta Meadowvale. There will also be promotional coupons available for the local tourist attractions, such as Canada’s Wonderland, African Lions Safari and Niagara Falls to name a few. There will be plenty to do for the whole family!
